We don’t just show you a single “perfect-world” premium and leave it at that. Instead, we offer total transparency by giving you the ability adjust your variables and to see the full range of possible premium payments — not just the best one.

 

So why do we do this? Well, it has a lot to do with the values of our founder, Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, who started the company in 1907. He believed SBLI should always act with integrity and transparency. And we’re not about to let him down — even when giving out quotes online.

You see, most insurance companies will show you only the lowest possible rate to try to win your business — even if in real life you’re really unlikely to get a rate that low. It’s what’s known as bait-and-switch. But at SBLI, we want to be totally upfront with you every step of the way. And since we can’t say for certain what your ultimate premium payments will be until the underwriting process is complete, we prefer to let you see how factors like health class, term and coverage amount can impact your premium so you’ll have all the information you need to make a smart decision. We believe that’s just a more honest way to do business.

Another reason we offer a range is that we want every person who does business with SBLI to know that they can trust us. And that means being honest from the moment we meet them — even if that meeting takes the shape of an online quote form.

Finally, we have a pretty selfish reason to show you a range of quotes — we want to be liked. And we know perfectly well that if we give you a quote that bears little resemblance to the amount of money we’re actually going to ask you to pay, that’ll leave a pretty bad taste in your mouth when all is said and done. Which isn’t the best way to win you over. And since we’ll never get by just on our looks, we really have to focus on providing an all-around experience that’ll make people love us.
